Stage, sound and lighting for Phoenix Running’s 24-hour festival

Blackland Farm, West Sussex | July 2026 | Outdoor running festival

An outdoor running festival needs more than a start line. For Phoenix Running’s West Sussex 24-hour festival at Blackland Farm, JJL Events & Technology supplied staging, sound and lighting, alongside equipment to help the organising team communicate across the site.

The brief

Phoenix Running asked us to help with sound, a gantry and lighting for the July event. Having supported the organisers previously, we discussed the available equipment and arranged to meet at the farm to work through the site layout.

What we provided

The setup included our 5m × 4m mobile trailer stage and a truss archway, together with a PA system, mixer and microphones. Festoon lighting, battery uplighters and moving-head stage lighting provided options for both general atmosphere and the performance area. We also supplied power distribution cabling, cable ramps and handheld radios.

A joined-up outdoor setup

The range of equipment allowed us to consider the event space as a whole. Festoon lighting could serve the wider site, while uplighters offered colour for trees and other features discussed during planning. The sound equipment supported music and announcements, and radios gave the team a way to stay in contact. JJL handled the installation and collection, with arrangements for final checks and getting the equipment powered on around the event start.

The result

After the festival, the organisers thanked us for our help and said JJL had helped make the event amazing. It was rewarding to contribute to an outdoor event with ambitions to grow, and to support the team with a combination of equipment and practical help.

“Thanks for all your help with this event, we really appreciate it. Without doubt you helped make it amazing.” — Joanne
